The Danang Steering Committee for Response to Climate Change and Sea Level Rise was established under Decision No.1281/QD-UBND dated 17 February 2011 and Decision No. 4995/QD-UBND dated 15 June 2011 of Danang People's Committee.

 

The Steering Committee provides interdisciplinary consultation for the People’s Committee by researching, proposing, guiding, coordinating, collaborating and supervising climate change response programs and projects at local, national, and international level.

Established since 2011, the Steering Committee members include:

Functions and Mandate of the Steering Committee
 
1. Studying and proposing interdisciplinary strategies and solutions to the People's Committee to address climate change issues; developing detailed climate change action plans based on the National Climate Change Response Program, the Ministerial action plan and the real situation of the city, submiting the action plans to the People's Committee for approval; Advising the People's Committee to adjust and further develop the city's climate change action plan for each stage of local development in accordance with the real situation.
 
2. Helping the People's Committee to guide and coordinate climate change projects, programs and activities among different sectors.
 
3. Guiding, organizing, coordinating, monitoring and supervising climate change programs, plans and projects ensuring efficiency and consistency.
 
4. Helping the People's Committee to guide, monitor and supervise departments, sectors and local organizions to implement climate change response programs, projects and acitivities.  
 
5. Conducting annual/phase-by-phase review and evaluation of climate change response programs and action plans, reporting to the City Vice Chairman.
 
6. The Steering Committee is responsible for providing consultation for the People's Committee in decision-making of the following issues:
 
a) Climate change response policy, strategies and measures, programs, planning, medium and long-term plans of the city for climate change response respond to climate change of the city;
 
b) The city's strategies and approaches for key climate change issues;
 
c) Proposal of sustainable development and climate change mitigaion policy; issues related to climate change in policy regimes, programs, projects or important works within the jurisdiction of the People's Committee.
 
d) Legal documents related to climate change response within the jurisdiction of the People's Council, the Party Committee and the People's Committee.
