On November 16, 2016, a delegation of World Bank (WB) led by Mr. Alwaleed Alatabani, the Financial Sector’s Chief Specialist at the WB in Viet Nam worked with departments and agencies in the city on the issue of "Financial Solutions for Disaster Risks in Danang". From Da Nang city, Mr. Le Ba Dung, Vice Director of Department of Finance, Mr. Hoang Thanh Hoa, Vice Director of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Mr. Dinh Quang Cuong, Director of Danang Climate Change Coordination as well as representatives from relevant departments and agencies attended the meeting.

 

On November 16th, 2016, a delegation of World Bank (WB) led by Mr. Alwaleed Alatabani, the Financial Sector’s Chief Specialist at the WB in Viet Nam paid a courtesy visit to and discussed the city of Danang’s need of financial solutions supports for response to disaster risk with the city’s authority. Mr. Tran Van Mien, Vice Chairman of Danang People’s Committee, chaired the meeting.

 

In the framework of the 100 resilient cities (100RC) pioneered by the Rockefeller Foundation, on 25 – 26 October, 2016, Da Nang Climate Change Coordination Office (CCCO) in collaboration with the executive board of 100RC held a workshop on building a plan to implement the project’s phase no.3 – To implement the strategy of resilience. Representatives from CCCO and the executive board of 100RC as well as a delegation of Bangkok Resilience Office led by Mr. Supachai Tanticom, Chief Resilience Officer (CRO), attended the workshop.

 

On Thursday, Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung played host to a group of leaders from the Nordic Development Fund (NDF), led by the Manager of the Nordic Climate Facility, Ms Emelie Moeller.

 

Sep 28 2016, Da Nang city made public the initial strategies of resilience in order to enhance the resilient ability for the city. Vice chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh city and Mrs. Lauren Sorkin, Regional Co-Director, Asia & Pacific for 100 Resilient Cities, presiding the conference, announced and discussed the methods to implement the strategies in the time forward. There were also many other officials from the office of government, local authority departments and sectors, associations and federations, NGOs and representatives of the entrepreneurs attending the release conference. 

 

In the framework of the program “ 100 resilient cities – 100RC”, on September 8 2016, the Climate Change Coordination office cooperated with its strategic partner of consultancy ISET holding a final consultant workshop for the strategies of resilience of Da Nang city. The workshop was presided by Mr. Ho Ky Minh – Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Da Nang city, Director of the Climate Change Steering Board. There was also a participation of almost 40 guests from many departments and sectors, associations, experts and technical groups who are members of the consultant board of the 100RC program to join in documenting the strategy plan.

 

 On 14th September, Mr. Ho Ky Minh – Vice Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee had a meeting with Swiss Re/VINARE group led by Mr. Thomas Kessler – Head of South East Asia Global Partnerships at Swiss Re and Mrs. Le Thi Thanh A – Director of Regional development in Public sector at VINARE during their visit to Da Nang

 

Da Nang City is coming closer to the milestone of Resilience Strategy release in this September. On August 10, Da Nang Climate Change Coordination Office (CCCO) organized the third consultation meeting of its kind to collect suggestions and reviews for the Strategy. Participants included former heads of the city, experts, and representatives of related municipal departments and agencies. 

 

Under the framework of the program “100 Resilient Cities” (100RC), Climate Change Coordination Office (CCCO) organized the second consultation meeting in order to complete Da Nang’s Resilience Strategy, expected to release in the late July 2016.

 

On the occasion of Can Tho becoming a new member of 100 Resilient Cities network (100RC), on the morning of June 6, Climate Change Coordination Office (CCCO), a.k.a CRO’s team received Can Tho City’s Delegation coming to Da Nang for experience and lesson learning regarding implementation of 100RC Program in the city.
